For the second year in a row, Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School’s girls golf team is headed the Regional Tournament, thanks to a standout performance at the TAPPS District Championship. Sophomores Erin Eaves and Grace Dai delivered clutch performances April 15, finishing fifth and ninth overall, respectively, and earning individual invitations to compete in the TAPPS Regional Tournament on April 28 in San Antonio.
This marks a return trip to Regionals for both players, who also qualified as freshmen in 2024. Eaves, notably, advanced from Regionals last year and competed at the TAPPS State Championship - a rare feat for a freshman and a proud moment for the Lady Bulldogs program.
At this year’s District Championship, Eaves fired an 84 to secure a 5th-place finish, while Dai carded a 91 to take 9th, both earning All-District honors. Competing against a field of seasoned upperclassmen, the two sophomores showed maturity beyond their years and solidified their places as key pillars of the program’s future.
“This is a special group,” said head coach Rob Long. “To qualify for Regionals two years in a row as underclassmen speaks volumes about their work ethic, talent, and mental toughness. Erin and Grace continue to raise the standard for our program.”
