Saving Private Ryan
It’s a special Monday edition of Classic Movie Night on May 22 with the 1998 epic war film, “Saving Private Ryan.” Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased online via ticketmaster.com or at the door.
Set in 1944 in France during World War II, the movie follows a group of soldiers, led by Capt. John Miller (Tom Hanks), on their mission to extricate Pvt. James Ryan (Matt Damon). Surrounded by the brutal realties of war, while searching for Ryan, each man embarks upon a personal journey and discovers their own strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honor, decency and courage.
The cast also includes Edward Burns, Tom Sizemore, Barry Pepper, Giovanni Ribisi, Vin Diesel, Adam Goldberg and Jeremy Davies.
The film (169 minutes) earned $481.8 million, making it the second-highest in 1998, and went on to win many accolades.
