409 Weekend for us all

The area code 409 was created March 19, 1983, as a split from 713 (Houston). It included nearly a dozen counties, Chambers, Galveston, Hardin, Jasper, Newton, Polk, Sabine, Trinity, Tyler and closer to home – Jefferson and Orange.

Cajun Heritage Festival

It’s a tribute to all things Cajun – crawfish, dancing and plenty of music – which includes 4 Horses, John Dale Hebert & the Cajun Playboys, Luke Huval Band and Jamie Bergeron & The Kickin’ Cajuns.

Preservation Bash

The Oaks Historic District is hosting their annual Preservation Bash and this year’s theme is “Yacht Rock Party.” Come dressed in your best yacht attire, such as topsider shoes, captain hats, and the perfect cruise outfit and board the “yacht” for an evening full of cruised-themed fun.

Art in the Park

Free to attend, the 22nd Art in the Park ushers in the spring season with a full day of festivities including a classic car show, live music by Osmosis Jones and Curse & The Cure, food trucks, kiddie zone and 120 vendors from Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.

Marsh Fest

The sixth annual Marsh Fest was created after 10-year-old Trevor Lee Chasson of Hamshire died during an ATV accident.

Classic Movie Night: Dumb & Dumber

Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels star as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, respectively, in the 1994 comedy, “Dumb & Dumber.” Lloyd and Harry are two men whose stupidity is indescribable.
