Aug. 29, officers from the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) were dispatched to the 7200 block of Helbig Road just after 5 p.m. in reference to a major traffic accident of a flipped vehicle with an unresponsive driver.
Responding officers provided emergency medical aid until EMS arrived and transported the sole male occupant to a local hospital in critical condition. Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the rear of another vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a tree.
The driver of the struck vehicle was not injured.
Two days prior, Aug. 27, BPD officers were dispatched to the area of Washington Boulevard and 8th Street in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Officers and EMS arrived on the scene and located the adult female victim, who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was walking in the roadway when she was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle reportedly remained on the scene, called 9-1-1, and was cooperative with the investigation.
