One man is dead and another has been booked in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of murder following a confrontation gone too far at the Port Arthur Townhomes, located behind Central Mall, Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 23.

Around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Port Arthur Police were dispatched to 3500 Turtle Creek Drive, The Port Arthur Townhomes, in reference to a fight in progress. While officers were en route, additional calls came in advising that a subject had been shot, Port Arthur Police stated in a press release.

Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw announced today that Port Arthur resident James Arceneaux, 53, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by a Jefferson County jury.  The same jury convicted Arceneaux yesterday for sexually assaulting a six (6) year old child in his Port Arthur home, on or about June 29, 2013.  The trial was held in the Criminal District Court, Judge John Stevens Jr. presiding.

A Jefferson County jury took less than an hour to convict and sentence a Port Arthur man, Milton D. Stephenson, 43,  to 55 years in prison for the felony offense of Burglary of a Habitation, announced Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw, according to a press release on July 19.
