Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas will hold a clay shoot on May 2 at the 1-In-100 Gun Club. 

Event organizers Effie Butts and Glenda Griffin say the event is open to the public for both experienced and novice shooters. Four-person teams will compete.

Breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks are included in the price of admission, which is $125 per individual shooter or $400 for a team of four. All proceeds benefit the children’s fund at Samaritan Counseling Center.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is getting a new piece of art with some great history courtesy of former Jefferson County judge and sheriff Carl Griffith. Thanks to a bit of luck and networking, Griffith recently acquired a rustic plaque that features the pictures of all the men who served as Jefferson County Sheriff from 1877-1947.
