A 57-year-old Port Arthur man’s dancing and “punching the air” in a Taco Bell drive thru last October ended with an arrest and DWI charge.

Groves police received a call at about 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2022, stating the driver of a gray Dodge Challenger “was swerving while driving and exited the vehicle once in the line and began dancing and punching the air.”

Upon making contact with the driver, a man identified as Mark Anthony Sigur, the officer observed him place an open container in the backseat area of the vehicle.

“I smelled the odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his person,” wrote the Groves officer. “I also observed Mark to have red, glassy eyes and slurred speech. I then had Mark attempt the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. The tests conducted were the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Nine-Step Walk & Turn and the One Leg Stand.

“Mark performed poorly on all tests given.”

Due to Sigur having multiple previous DWI convictions, the charge was enhanced to DWI 3rd. As of press time, Sigur did not appear on the Jefferson County inmate roster.
