Found and arrested March 31 in a town approximately 260 miles away from the Jefferson County homicide scene, a 24-year-old Winnie woman was arrested for murder in connection to the shooting death of a 16-year-old girl days before.

According to the announcement, at about 3:40 a.m., local deputies joined Liberty Hill police in arresting Chelsea Ann-Marie Shipp at a residence in Liberty Hill.

Shipp was wanted for murder in connection to the discovery of the body of a 16-year-old girl, identified as Vidorian Katelynn Nicole Stone, located at a residence in the 14000 block of Kolb’s Corner in west Jefferson County, Sunday, March 27.

“Shipp is going to be transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked in later this afternoon,” read a statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department (JCSO). “We appreciate the many Crime Stoppers tips and assistance offered by the public.

“The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office would also like to extend our gratitude to the Chambers County District Attorney Investigators, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Liberty Hill Police Department for their professionalism and assistance in this investigation.”

Local detectives previously arrested 22-year-old Cody Arnold March 28 for murder after finding Stone’s body. Arnold was arrested at the home, and his bond has been set at $1 million.

A probable cause affidavit written by JCSO Detective Brian Sain described the 16-year-old murder victim as Arnold’s “girlfriend” and Shipp as his friend. The charging document goes on to say Arnold told officers Shipp shot the victim, and the woman allegedly confessed as much to at least two other people.
