Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced July 22 that a jury found Percy Andrepont, 68, guilty of two counts of indecency with a child. Judge Raquel West sentenced Andrepont to serve 50 years in prison on each count after hearing punishment evidence from an additional victim.

The two sentences will run concurrently, and Andrepont will have to serve half of his time before becoming eligible for parole at age 92. Andrepont will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The child sex assault occurred when the 11-year-old child was at her home in Beaumont, presented evidence revealed during trial. The defendant, a relative of the victim, groped the child’s breast and genitals, and forcefully kissed her, prosecutors presented.

The District Attorney’s Office reported that the child victim immediately outcried following the incident, but no report was made to law enforcement for several months. Once finally forwarded for investigation, the victim was then seen for a Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) at Child Abuse and Forensic Services, as well as interviewed at the Garth House in Beaumont, where the child further detailed the abuse. She and her sister both testified against Andrepont at trial.

Due to his criminal history, Andrepont faced a minimum of 25 years in prison.
