Lumberton ISD hires new safety director

Thomas “Tim” Lane is the new Director of Safety, Security and Student Services for Lumberton ISD, according to a June 22 press release from district officials.Lane spent his entire law enforcement career with the State of Arizona Highway Patrol Division with the Department of Public Safety in many capacities of increasing responsibilities.
He began as a cadet with the Arizona Highway Patrol Bureau and worked his way through the ranks including patrol, motorcycle sergeant, Criminal Investigations Division, Regional Commander of the Gang Intelligence Team for Southern Arizona, and Regional Commander of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division-International Affairs Committee (IAC). 
Lane’s major accomplishment with the IAC was leading NAFTA-type policy committees and enforcement in Canada, Mexico and throughout the U.S. 
"His experience and expertise will be invaluable as we refine our safety, security and student services programs. The issues that schools face have become increasingly complex in the past few years. The addition of this position will help us navigate our new realities and provide the safest possible environment for our students and staff.,” stated Superintendent Dr. Tony Tipton.
He also served as the Arizona District Commander for Intelligence, Central Patrol, and Motorcycle Patrol plus he was the Arizona Department of Administration Chief of Police.
For three years, Lane served in Washington D.C. as the Arizona Federal Highway Administration program manager leading federal efforts to heighten first responder and public safety on America's roadways.
He then served Arizona as the Chief of the Enforcement Services Bureau establishing and enforcing state-wide policies surrounding all matters of the highway safety industry.
Lane recently retired from the Arizona Division Director for Enforcement and Compliance in which he oversaw the activities of the entire division related to highway safety and operations in the state.
“LISD is confident that before too long, we will have the best public school safety, security, student services program in Texas. Tim will guide us as we perfect our systems, coordinate with other agencies to establish solid procedures, and lead us in developing a framework for the future,” stated LISD officials in the press release.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Administration, along with attending many separate high-level academies including FBI Southwest Command College and the Federal Highway Administration Senior Executive Operations Academy.
Lane and his wife recently moved to the area.
