After allegedly traveling from Houston to steal mail from Beaumont residents, two men have been indicted for federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas, according to U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston.

Dontae Dewey McGee, 22, and Tyrin Terelle Robinson, 21, were named in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury on March 2, charging them with theft of mail, possession of stolen mail, and aiding and abetting. McGee and Robinson made initial appearances March 9 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn.

If convicted, McGee and Robinson face up to five years in federal prison. This case is being investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Beaumont Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Lee.

Both men pleaded not guilty and were being held without bail as of March 16. A trial date has been set for May.
