An allegedly duplicitous pecuniary profiteer accused of stealing more than $1.4 million from patrons nationwide asked a judge Jan. 9 for his case to be set for a bench trial.

Michael James White, 34, CEO of Beaumont-based Gold Pro LLC., appeared with his attorney Dustin Galmor on Monday morning to ask for a bench trial, wherein Criminal District Court Judge Raquel West would decide his fate on one count of felony theft. White earned that charge in September 2021 for allegedly sending several fake coins to a customer in New York City, who paid the merchant $39,314.20 for twenty 1 oz. American Eagle coins.

Galmor said the defense has been waiting months for the coins in question to be sent in by the complainant. Judge West reset the case for 45 days, giving the complaining witness that long to produce the evidence requested by defense counsel.

According to Galmor, the coins were allegedly to be produced by the complainant in October.

“Three months later, there’s still nothing there,” Galmor argued before the court. “I’m trying to avoid a case where we come back in 45 days and they say, ‘It’s in the mail.’”

According to previous reporting, a dive by The Examiner through attorney general records, BBB complaints, judicial rulings and more unveiled a trail of theft allegations in excess of $1,495,000 attributable to White’s Gold Pro LLC. Amid indictments, court appearances and multiple investigations – including an FBI probe – White’s customers claim he continues to lie and steal.
