The Beaumont ISD Career and Technical Education Department is now accepting registrations for their Career Exploration Camp, scheduled daily June 6 – 9, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Career and Technology Center.

“The camp is offered to middle school students, grades 6-8, in order to give them the opportunity to explore the pathways and programs available to them to help determine future areas of interest,” said K-8 Career Readiness Specialist Shamine Cormier.

Students will assume the role of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), an automotive technician, a chef, a film and video editor and more through engagement in hands-on simulations.

“Studies have shown that career exploration opportunities improve the attitudes of our children about their career possibilities, thus motivating them to persevere and attend school everyday,” said Cormier. “Students who are involved in career exploration are more likely to plan their high school courses of study carefully to gain the skills they will need upon graduation.”

Registration is open until May 20, or until all spaces are filled. Register via Google docs at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScEqu3Y3ViGmvg9COMOOdgEJ6NK48ikmRxI4yN88CkBmMRwVg/viewform.
