The free and open-to-the-public Big Thicket Day will take place Saturday, Oct. 8, at Collier’s Ferry Park, 5390 Pine St. in Beaumont, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year’s Big Thicket Day will celebrate 48 years of Big Thicket National Preserve (established 1974) and 58 years of Big Thicket Association (established 1964). There will be activities for everyone, live entertainment by Casey Chestnutt, Big Thicket authors book signing, and river tours aboard the Ivory Bill.

Philip the Falconer will also provide a hawk demonstration during this time, among other family activities. Additionally, Stable Spirit will have horses for guests to pet and groom.
