The Beaumont Art League had a good attendance last Saturday evening for their Members Exhibit as board president Mary Ellen VonNezter elated over the participation. Local artist and art instructor Albert Faggard judged this creative show and declared Melody Montero Ortiz Best of Show, with Ellen McIntosh earning first place, Lief Wallace earned second place and third place was Tina Novelli. Honorable mentions were Annie Orchard, Jamie Kesler, Thomas Veillon, John Courts, Rebecca Isles and Judy Haygood. Enjoying the artistic pieces were Mike Caciopppo, Sam Daleo Jr., Jake Sanders, Sheila and Seth Bishop, Tommy Byers, Alice Powell, Betty Iles, Jessica Parker, Joyce Philen, Jeff McManus, John Richardson, Michele Anderson, Amy Faggard, Karen Shepherd, Cathy and David Worsham, Carrie and Roy Sarver, just to name a few. The next exhibition will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, and is free and open to the public. Next year, the Beaumont Art League will celebrate 80 years!

Sipping for a cause… Lauren Rahe, Executive Director of Ubi Caritas Health Ministries, along with Stefanie Wright, hosted their sixth annual Craft Beer Festival last Sunday afternoon. Severing on the committee were Ashleigh Wert, Pinkee Harely, Jessica Lambeth, Gabi Blanco and Crystal Shafer. Volunteering for the cause were Fred Huff, Stacy Huff, Matt Wright, Dee Lane, JB Rahe, Mike Lavergne, Laurie Kerns, Rachel Mayer, Allie and C. Harris. Patrons enjoying the libations were Chase Wert, Zach Stiles, Ty Coudrain, Devin Hardy, Jason Wagner, Cat Griffin, Nick Bracoto, Daylon Turner and Barry Behannon and others. A fun time had by all!

Road trip… Michele and Mitch Smith, with their guests Christina and Josh Crawford, Kim and Roy Steinhagen, jumped into a limo to Houston last Saturday evening and connected with Angie McClelland to enjoy an evening at the home and studio of abstract artist Orna Feinstein, which was an auction item from the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. A scrumptious meal was also prepared by the host and the viewing of her incredible art work certainly made for a magical evening!

Speaking of summer fun… Lunch at the Lake has cranked up again with popular food trucks serving up their bests every Tuesday, from 10:30 a.m. until sold out, at the Downtown Event Centre in Beaumont.

Summer delight… the community is invited to the gorgeous grounds of the McFaddin-Ward House on Thursday, June 24, for their Movies by the Decade series featuring the 1930s classic, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” followed by “Citizen Kane” on July 7, and “Singin’ in the Rain” on July 21. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m. Food and libations from the likes of Boss Burger, Mabel’s and A&A Food Company will be on site. What a great way to spend a summer evening on the lawn of one of our wonderful museums! Save the date – the Music in the Garden: Jazz & Juleps concert featuring Jimmy Simmons has been moved to Oct. 6. Don’t forget!

Member’s only… The Art Museum of Southeast Texas’ Collector’s Club will meet on Thursday, June 16, from 6-8 p.m. Presenters for the evening are Frank Spicer, Sarah Foltz and Dawn Ohmer, who will all be discussing art exhibitions from around the area including the Houston art scene. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided. RSVPs are being accepted by calling (409) 832-3432.

Stork marketing… Ashlye and Philip Battaglia III welcomed their first image last week. Precious Sunny Lee Battaglia bowed in weighing 7 pounds and 1 ounce. Grandparents Cindi and Philip Battaglia Jr. are ecstatic over their new bundle of joy. Congratulations!

Happy anniversary… to Alexander and Peter Lippert (2 years), Amy and Ryan Pyburn (10), Lacey and Mark Mabry (12), Sonia and Eric Smith (15), Tiffany and Matt McKenzie (15), Andrea and Taylor Neild (17), and Cheryl and Stephen Barenberg (40). Felicitations!

News of I do’s…Congrats to Aislinn and Joel Higgins, who recently became engaged in the Mexican Island of Isla Mujeres in the Caribbean Sean. Compliments on the engagement!
