Reflections of a social eye… With most of the Christmas cheer behind us, the wonderful staff at The Examiner has been perusing photo ops and ink generated from 2021. As you view the lovely photos in this week’s column from the last 12 months, I hope they memories will put a smile on your face and remind you of the wonderful times that we were able to have last year. Many of the happenings were for charitable causes, and due to the undying efforts of so many, it helped to strengthen our community. While these were certainly not all of the events on the calendar, these were stellar memorable parties:

American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s “Let’s Rodeo” Ball; Alzheimer’s Association Family Portrait Luncheon and Walk to End Alzheimer’s; Art Museum’s “Havana Nights” Gala; Baptist Hospitals Southeast Texas Foundation’s Online Support for Healthcare Heroes; Beaumont Chamber of Commerce’s “Spice of the Season”; Beaumont Community Players “White Linen Nights”; Casanova/Farha Bloody Mary Holiday Party; Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas’ “Harvest of Hope”; Christus Southeast Texas Foundation Virtual Gala honoring Healthcare Heroes, City of Beaumont’s “Oktoberfest”; Dishman Art Museum Wine Pairing; Garth House “Pour Les Enfants” Gala; Historic District Holiday Homes Tour; Julie Rogers Gift of Life’s “Champagne and Ribs” BBQ delivery tour and Julie Richardson Procter 5K Ribbon Run “Monster Dash”; Junior League of Beaumont “Dancing with the Stars of Southeast Texas” and Main Street Market and Luncheon”; Lamar University Distinguished Alumni Dinner; Neches River Festival Ball; Pioneering Women Luncheon; and the Symphony League Belle and Debutante Ball.

Green thumbs… For those who love to garden, the Golden Triangle Rose Society will host their annual Rose Seminar on Saturday, Jan. 15, at Tyrrell Park from 9 a.m. to noon. See you there!

For the kiddos… Organizers of the Beaumont Children’s Museum Casino Night Gala has decided it would be in everyone’s best interest for health and safety to all guests to postpone their upcoming “Circus Circus” event on Jan. 8 to Saturday, March 26. The location, Beaumont Civic Center, and time, 6-11:30 p.m. will be the same. The gala benefits several museum programs, exhibits, and plans for future expansion. Save the date!

Lace ‘em up… Kick-off the season with the Neches River Festival and Mardi Gras Southeast Texas nears beginning Saturday, Feb. 26, with the Capes and Crowns 5K Run at 9 a.m. with a free 1K run/trot/walk for the kids at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $25 for 18 and under, $30 for 19 and older, and can be done so at runsignup.com. Those who participate will receive a T-shirt, race bag, and ticket to enter and enjoy Mardi Gras Southeast Texas on the day of the race. See you at the Event Centre!

Happy anniversary… to Becca and Dakota Balfanz (4 years), Charlee and Mark Rule (22), and Annette and Scott Holtmyer (35). Congratulations!
