Teacher indicted for improper relationship

Another teacher has been indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury for having an improper relationship with a student.

Jan. 25, Ikeyia Javea Roberts, 32, of Beaumont, was charged with improper relationship between educator/student, according the affidavit for arrest warrant that details the now former educator engaged in sexual intercourse with a Beaumont United High School student. The crime is a second-degree felony.

Dec. 5, 2022, school officials were notified of an alleged improper relationship between Roberts, a Beaumont ISD teacher, and a 16-year-old male student. The student said, in a statement, that he was in a dating relationship with Roberts and she had purchased a ring for him. The victim added that his teacher allowed him to spend the weekend with her on or about Dec. 3, 2022, and they engaged in sexual activities.

In a statement to investigators, police report, Roberts admitted that she and the student started on inappropriate relationship in November 2022.
