Sports Shorts: Lamar Cardinals

Both men’s and women’s basketball teams were defeated Jan. 14 by Texas A&M-Commerce. The men (5-13, 1-4) fell 81-66 and the women (8-8, 2-3) lost, 57-52. Both teams will play a double-header at home Thursday, Jan. 19, against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beginning at 5 p.m.

Racquetball Southeast Texas natives David Malain of Beaumont and Glen Childers Jr. of Orangefield won the 2021 Winter Splat Racquetball Tournament held in McKinney, Texas. Malain and Childers won five matches to earn the first-place medals.
