Sports Shorts: UIL State Spirit Championships

Multiple area cheerleading squads competed in the UIL State Spirit Championship last weekend in Fort Worth, Texas. In Class 4A Division I, LC-M finished second overall with a total score of 90.53, which was 2 points behind first place Mabank. Lumberton finished fourth with an 88.07.

Bock crowned Miss Mardi Gras 2023

Bridge City’s Kylie Bock was crowned Miss Mardi Gras 2023 at the Julie Rogers Theater on Jan. 7. The 17-year-old attends Liberty University online and is finishing her high school through a college program. Following graduation, Bock plans to attend Texas A&M University in pre-med.

Joint investigation nets two in Bridge City

May 12, the Orange Regional Tactical Response Team executed an evidentiary search warrant at 1101 Bernice in Bridge City in reference to narcotics being sold from the residence, according to a news release from the Orange police Department.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), with the assistance of the Texas Department of Transportation, will close the Rainbow and Veterans Bridges when sustained wind speeds reach 44 mph, reports DPS Sgt. Stephanie Davis.
