More than 45% of the registered voters in Southeast Texas turned out for the Nov. 8 General Election which included contest state, federal and local races for Jefferson, Hardin and Orange County residents.

Voting calendar set, deadlines draw near

There are a host of state, federal, county and other elections next month and the deadline to register to vote is drawing near. According to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office, the final day to register to vote in the Nov. 8 election is Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Homeowners, local candidates win in May 7 elections

Local voters who participated in the May 7 elections set up several run-offs, decided most of the races before them and joined with statewide ballot-casters to approve a pair of Constitutional amendments aimed at offering reprieve to homeowners’ taxes.

Voting by mail deadline

Texans can apply to vote by mail in the 2022 elections, and voters over 65, disabled, or out of the county on voting day, who wish to vote by mail, must renew the option annually.

The last day to register to vote for the 2022 Texas Primaries is Jan. 31. Voters may check if they are registered to vote with their County Voter Registrar or at votetexas.gov.

Turnout low as early voting comes to close for Nov. 2 election

By Jennifer Johnson Managing Editor   Early voting for the Nov. 2 Jefferson County Joint Election and Constitutional Amendment vote ends Friday, Oct. 29, the Oct. 28-29 polling locations operating extended hours of 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. the last two days, according to Aaron Kelley, Elections Manager.
