Mardi Gras Southeast Texas returns to Beaumont near the Great Lawn of the Downtown Event Centre (700 Crockett St.) on Feb. 16-19 and will include parades, concerts, food, attractions, carnival midway, arts and crafts, and, of course, plenty of beads. The festivities will officially begin at 5 p.m.

Parades, beads, concerts and wolves, oh my!

Traditions of Mardi Gras can be traced to medieval Europe, which passed through Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th Centuries to the French House of the Bourbons. In America, records indicate the first celebration came in 1703.

Capes and Crowns

Kick off the season of the Neches River Festival and Mardi Gras Southeast Texas as the groups come together to present the “Capes & Crowns 5K Run” on Saturday, Feb. 26, on the great lawn of the Event Centre, 700 Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont. The 5K begins at 9 a.m.

The return of Mardi Gras

The good times will once again roll in downtown Beaumont as Mardi Gras Southeast Texas officially returns to the Great Lawn of the downtown Event Centre on Feb. 24-27 featuring parades, concerts, food, attractions, arts and crafts, and, of course, plenty of beads.

As Beaumont prepares to host its Mardi Gras celebration from Feb. 20 – 23, many downtown roads will be closed to accommodate parade route and other festivities.
