Golf The third annual Beaumont Emergency Hospital Babe Zaharias Open at the Beaumont Country Club was completed last weekend as Miranda Wang from Pebble Beach, California, won the tournament with an 11-under 277 and took home $15,000.

Football camp

Former Beaumont Central standout and current NFL player P.J. Locke will host his annual football camp and showcase Saturday, June 18, at Beaumont ISD Memorial Stadium beginning at 9 a.m. The camp is for those in grades 5th through 12th and registration is free at bamfam.org.

The Lamar University baseball program honored three legends May 7 and held an official jersey celebration for David Bernsen, Jim Gillian and Kevin Millar.
Brooklyn Bass (Lumberton), Rylee Miller (PN-G), Lauren Locicero (Lumberton), Loren Rodriguez (LC-M), Karlee Hussey (Lumberton) and coach Jason Hopson (Lumberton) will participate in the Christus/Beaumont Bone and Joint All-Star Classic soccer game June 14.

The 20th annual BASF and TotalEnergies Miracle Match for Life Golf Tournament on April 29 raised more than $125,000 for three charities that provide lifesaving health services for people in Southeast Texas – Be The Match, Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” Program and LifeShare Blood Center.

Beaumont Independent School District (BISD) trustees heard proposed plans to potentially sell the naming rights to Memorial Stadium and other facilities in a special meeting held March 7, while voting to remove the name of a former superintendent from the career center.
