Commissioners OKs amendment to policy

In their first meeting of the year on Jan. 10, the Hardin County Commissioners Court tackled a light agenda, including approval of a request from Emergency Management Coordinator Aaron Tupper to amend the current Hardin County Policy for Disaster/Emergency Closing.

With the new commissioner at school, the Hardin County Commissioners Court went ahead with business at the Jan. 10 meeting — the first of the new year. County Judge Wayne McDaniel noted Pct. 4 Commissioner Ernie Koch was attending a commissioners school this week in Austin.

Hardin County SO seeking burglary suspects

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is looking for two suspects involved in a home burglary on Jan. 10 in the western part of the county. Sheriff Mark Davis reported the incident happened around 9:15 a.m. on the 1300 block of Maple Road in Saratoga.

West Hardin’s Wells is state champion

West Hardin High School’s Logan Wells was named state champion in the UIL Class 2A Congress and Speech state champion last week in Austin. Wells is the fourth state champ in Congress and 11th Speech state champion from West Hardin since 2014.

Motorists traveling through the small western Hardin County town passed an eyesore – a so-called resale shop partially covered by piles of trash and debris in front of its building.

Lumberton official leaves commissioner’s seat

Hardin County Pct. 4 Commissioner Alvin Roberts made his final motion as a county official as he attended his final commissioners court meeting on Dec. 27 in the Hardin County Court Room. He motioned for the meeting to be adjourned, something he didn’t get to do much because of Pct.

HARDIN COUNTY: Two men arrested on child sex charges

Two men were arrested on felony child sex crimes by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) last week. According to the HCSO jail roster, Whitney Coburn, 44, was arrested Dec. 8 and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child-sexual contract.
