Renaissance faires date back decades in America. It was 1963 when Los Angeles schoolteacher Phyllis Patterson held a very small Renaissance fair as a class activity, in the backyard of her home in the Hollywood Hills. She wanted an immersive event to teach a class about medieval times.

Ford Park is hosting Magic of Lights for the first time this holiday season. Now through Jan. 1, 2023 (closed on Nov. 26), this drive-through will feature displays this year such as Barbie, 12 Days of Christmas, Big Foot Monster Trucks, Prehistoric Christmas and the Enchanting Tunnel of Lights.
