It’s beginning to look, and feel, a lot like fall. Each October, Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in nearby Orange hosts the largest Scarecrow Festival in Texas with dozens of hand-crafted scarecrow exhibits displayed throughout the gardens.

Summer is officially over and the fall festivals are showing up on our calendars, which begins next weekend with the City of Beaumont’s annual, and very popular, Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 3-8 p.m. at Rogers Park (6540 Gladys Ave.).

The McFaddin-Ward House (MWH) invited the community to enjoy the historic beauty of the home and grounds with its annual Picnic on the Lawn on Saturday, Oct. 23. in Beaumont. This event was held in conjunction with the inaugural “Museum Madness Weekend,” Oct. 22-24.
