According to vaccine experts advising the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), children 12 to 15 should receive a COVID-19 booster shot. A full CDC endorsement is still pending approval from the organization’s director.

Dec. 6, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) announced that the first known Texas case of the COVID-19 B.1.1.529 (aka the Omicron strand) variant has been identified in a resident of Harris County. The adult female resident was recently diagnosed with COVID-19.

Beaumont ISD closes campus due to COVID

In a letter forwarded to parents Sunday, the Beaumont Independent School District (BISD) announced the closure of King Middle School due to a COVID outbreak in students and staff. The campus will be closed the entire week of Aug. 23-27.
