Feds sentence felon for firearm

Edward Lee Simien, 43, pleaded guilty on Sep. 9, 2022, to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and was sentenced to 41 months (three years and five months) in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone.

Woman found deceased near downtown Beaumont

The Beaumont Police Department (BPD) released the name of a woman who was found dead on Dec. 9. The body of Sonai Rokieshey Nelson, 33, of Beaumont, was found in the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue. BPD responded to the scene about 7 a.m.

Local woman arrested for child abuse

Dec. 9, the Beaumont Police Department reported Special Crimes detectives obtained two warrants for 27-year-old woman in connection with child abuse of her infant son.
