The Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School Bulldogs fired an eye-opening 299 team total to win the Larry Paine High School Memorial Invitational by 14 shots, battling through wet, damp, and cold conditions.
The championship effort was led by junior Reece Williams and sophomore Skylyn Fisher, who each carded impressive rounds of 74 to pace the field.
Hosted by Wesbrook Senior High School, the Memorial Invitational featured 20 high school teams from across Southeast Texas, continuing a long-standing tradition honoring the late Larry Paine, a member of the Southeast Texas Golf Coaches Hall of Fame. The event remains a tribute to his legacy and lasting impact on the growth of high school golf in the region.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, Monsignor Kelly demonstrated remarkable depth and consistency, with no individual score higher than 78.
Lumberton High School finished second with a 313, followed by Hamshire-Fannett High School in third at 315.
Hamshire-Fannett’s Dawson Brown earned medalist honors with a career-low 72, surpassing his previous low of 87 this year.
A three-way tie for second at 74 included Monsignor Kelly’s Skylyn Fisher and Reece Williams, along with Lumberton’s Tyler Fasulo.
