Lumberton Middle school was placed on hold Monday, Oct 19, after a student claimed he had a gun. Lumberton Chief of Police Danny Sullins told The Examiner the student approached fellow students and pointed at a fanny pack and told them he was going to shoot teachers.
"We are proud of the four students that went and reported the classmate that made the threat" says Sullins. "These kids did exactly what they were suppose to do"
A gun powder sniffing dog was brought to the school from Beaumont ISD's Police Department to assist as the school was searched. Officers traced the students steps through school video. A gun was not found. At that time the hold was lifted.
The student was transported to the Hardin County Juvenile Detention Center in Kountze and charged with making a terroristic threat.
