It took 29 years to find him, now 68-year-old Rogelio Guerra Vasquez is in custody. Vasquez was arrested on Wednesday, Oct 7, 2026 in Mexico for the May 1997 stabbing death of his wife, Sugie Lane Vasquez in Orange.
The homicide occurred in May of 1997. The victim's and suspect's daughter Emily Ross, who was 14-years-old at the time of the murder, posted about the arrest of her father on her Facebook page.
On her Facebook page, Ross. now 44, says "For the first time in 29 years, I laid my head down and rested peacefully". An arrest warrant was issued on Vasquez in July of 1997, two months after the murder.
