Orange County Commissioner's Court has approved the purchase of vehicles for the county's full-time constables as part of tje 2026-27 budget year. This marks the first time Orange County has provided county-owned vehcles specifically for its full time constables.
The purchase represents an important investment in the county's law enforcement operations. In past, Constables were required to use their personal vehicles when conducting county business.
"This is an important step forward for Orange County and our Constable" said County Judge John Gothia. Our full time Constable perform essentail duties on behalf of the county and providing them with county vehicles ensures they have the appropriate resources to carry out those responsibilities while also protecting both the county and our employees"
The transition from personal to county owned-vehicles also addresses concerns with using privately-owned vehicles for official county business. The vehicles will be used by the full-time Constables in the performance of their offical duties throughut Orange County.
