Lamar University of Engineering opens Valero Research Lab

The able to get handsValero Reaction Lab at the Lamar University College of Engineering is up atnd operating at the university. A $500,000 transformation investment from the refinery created the lab. Jerry Stumbo, Vice President and General Manager of Valero Port Arthur, tells The Examiner "Valero is fortunate enough to have a long-term relationship with Lamar and they hire a lot of engineers from the university and the lab is a great project for all of Southeast Texas as it provides the tools and skills that new people need for the industry". Lamar University President Dr. Jamie Taylor says "The Reaction Lab is a first rate laboratory and students are getting hands-on experience and will be prepared on day one they will be productiv". The lab features an 18-Foot video wall, modular desks, high-end graphic analysis, and a fully online learning environment with AI-driven cameras and advanced audio capabilities. The gift was presented to Lamar University in 2024.
