Longtime County Treasurer Deborah McWilliams will end her tenure June 30 after the Hardin County Commissioners Court approved her retirement at the May 12 meeting.
Also, the court approved Angie Smith to fill McWilliam’s unexpired, which ends Dec. 31. Smith, the Republican nominee for the county treasurer’s post, is running unopposed in the November general election.
“I would like to go ahead and go home early,” said McWilliams, who has been an employee with Hardin County for more than 36 years. “I’ll be 68 in July.”
County Judge Wayne McDaniel said the court will honor McWilliams at its June 23 meeting.
“It has been my honor to serve the county and I have truly enjoyed it,” McWilliams said.
