The Orange Police Department is investigating after a woman was found dead in a roadside ditch in the 8300 block of Highway 87 North on April 19, according to Lt. C.J. Foreman.
Officers were called to the scene at about 10:18 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive 46-year-old woman found face down in a water-filled ditch on the west side of the road. She was identified by her driver’s license. The woman was reportedly last seen leaving Cotton Cay’s Club.
Foreman said OPD and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office conducted interviews and a scene investigation. While the cause of death remains pending, investigators do not suspect foul play at this time. Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner has ordered an autopsy.
The case remains under investigation by the OPD Criminal Investigation Division.
