Early voting for the 2026 midterm elections began Feb. 17 throughout the state of Texas and will continue until this Friday, Feb. 27. Election Day is March 3 for both the Democratic and Republican primaries.
Listed below is day-by-day data for early voter turnout in Jefferson County (as of press time) with direct comparisons from the previous midterm primaries in 2022, along with early voter turnout for Orange County.
Jefferson County
Throughout the early voting period as of press time, the total votes for the Democratic primary in Jefferson County was 8,308; for the Republican primary, it was 6,510.
Feb. 17:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout for Day 1 of early voting was a total of 1,060. In 2022, the turnout for the Democratic primary for Day 1 of early voting was 566. 2026’s Day 1 turnout marked a 60.76% increase in voters from 2022.
The Republican primary early voter turnout was a total of 855. In 2022, the turnout for the Republican primary for Day 1 of early voting was 587. 2026’s Day 1 turnout marked a 37.17% increase in voters from 2022.
In total, 1,915 people voted on Day 1 of early voting for the March primary. In 2022, 1,153 people voted. This marks a 49.67% increase in voters.
Feb. 18:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout was a total of 1,148. In 2022, the turnout for the Democratic primary for Day 2 of early voting was 595. 2026’s Day 2 turnout marked a 63.45% increase in voters from 2022.
The Republican primary early voter turnout was a total of 970. In 2022, the turnout for the Republican primary for Day 2 of early voting was 811. 2026’s Day 2 turnout marked a 17.85% increase in voters from 2022.
In total, 2,118 people voted on Day 2 of early voting for the March primary. In 2022, 1,406 people voted. This marks a 40.4% increase in voters from 2022.
Feb. 19:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout was a total of 1,026. In 2022, the turnout for the Democratic primary for Day 3 of early voting was 581. 2026’s Day 3 turnout marked a 55.38% increase in voters from 2022.
The Republican primary early voter turnout was a total of 925. In 2022, the turnout for the Republican primary for Day 3 of early voting was 787. 2026’s Day 3 turnout marked a 16.1% increase in voters from 2022.
In total, 1,951 people voted on Day 3 of early voting for the March primary. In 2022, 1,368 voted. This marks a 35.13% increase in voters from 2022.
Feb. 20:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout was a total of 1,234. In 2022, the turnout for the Democratic primary for Day 4 of early voting was 491. 2026’s Day 4 turnout marked an 86.14% increase in voters from 2022.
The Republican primary early voter turnout was a total of 1,034. In 2022, the turnout for the Republican primary for Day 4 of early voting was 708. 2026’s Day 4 turnout marked a 37.42% increase in voters from 2022.
In total, 2,268 people voted on Day 4 of early voting for the March primary. In 2022, 1,199 voted. This marks a 61.6% increase in voters from 2022.
Feb. 21:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout was a total of 1,104. In 2022, the turnout for the Democratic primary for Day 5 of early voting was 743. 2026’s Day 5 turnout marked a 39.09% increase in voters from 2022.
The Republican primary early voter turnout was a total of 615. In 2022, the turnout for the Republican primary for Day 5 of early voting was 1,011. 2026’s Day 5 turnout marked a 48.7% decrease in voters from 2022.
In total, 1,719 people voted on Day 5 of early voting for the March primary. In 2022, 1,754 voted. This marks a 2% decrease in voters from 2022.
Feb. 22:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout was a total of 681. In 2022, the turnout for the Democratic primary for Day 6 of early voting was 455. 2026’s Day 6 turnout marked a 39.78% increase in voters from 2022.
The Republican primary early voter turnout was a total of 295. In 2022, the turnout for the Republican primary for Day 6 of early voting was 557. 2026’s Day 6 turnout marked a 47% decrease in voters from 2022.
In total, 976 people voted on Day 6 of early voting for the March primary. In 2022, 1,012 voted. This marks a 3.55% decrease in voters from 2022.
Feb. 23:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout was a total of 1,038. In 2022, the turnout for the Democratic primary for Day 7 of early voting was 383. 2026’s Day 7 turnout marked a 92.1% increase in voters from 2022.
The Republican primary early voter turnout was a total of 926. In 2022, the turnout for the Republican primary for Day 7 of early voting was 168. 2026’s Day 7 turnout marked a 451.19% increase in voters from 2022.
In total, 1,964 people voted on Day 7 of early voting for the March primary. In 2022, 551 voted. This marks a 256.4% increase in voters from 2022.
Feb. 24:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout was a total of 1,017.
The Republican primary early voter turnout was a total of 890.
In total, 1,907 people voted on Day 8 of early voting for the March primary. In 2022, the polls for the primary election were closed for Day 8, so no direct comparisons can be made.
Orange County
Throughout the early voting period, the total votes for the Democratic primary in Orange County was 1,069 people as of press time. For the Republican primary it was 4,696 people as of press time.
Feb. 17:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout for Day 1 of early voting was 117. The Republican primary early voter turnout for Day 1 of early voting was 633.
Feb. 18:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout for Day 2 of early voting was 115. The Republican primary early voter turnout for Day 2 of early voting was 558.
Feb. 19:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout for Day 3 of early voting was 138. The Republican primary early voter turnout for Day 3 of early voting was 544.
Feb. 20:
The Democratic primary early voter turnout for Day 4 of early voting was 147. The Republican primary early voter turnout for Day 4 of early voting was 722.
Feb. 21:
