TEA opens Applications for BISD Board of Managers

“Dear Superintendent Allen and Trustees,” the letter began Dec. 11, delivering the long-awaited decision that TEA Commissioner Mike Morath had decided to take over leadership of Beaumont Independent School District due to what Morath referred to as a systematic inability to support effective academics.

“I am hereby ordering the appointment of both a board of managers to govern the district and a conservator,” said Morath within the correspondence.

Applications are now available for Beaumont residents to apply to serve BISD students and staff on the Board of Managers that will soon replace the BISD Board of Trustees.

Following the January 31, 2026, application process and community meetings, applicant reviews, reference checks, training, interviews, and background checks will be held, followed by an appointment. TEA has not indicated a specific goal date for the appointment of the Board of Managers.

The application for the Board of Managers can be found online at: https://tea.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0kSI9E85hRf8JgO
