Go wild for Beaumont’s Museum Madness

Get ready for a spectacular weekend of art, history, and family fun as Beaumont’s annual Museum Madness Weekend returns from Thursday, Oct. 16, through Sunday, Oct. 19. Supported by the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau and presented by area museums, this city-wide celebration offers a variety of free activities, special programming, and unique experiences perfect for all ages.

Museum Madness is a highlight of Beaumont’s fall calendar, encouraging locals and visitors to explore the rich cultural landscape of Southeast Texas. This year’s event features a mobile-exclusive digital pass with deals and discounts, allowing participants to check into participating locations, rack up points, and redeem them for prizes.

“Museum Madness is a fantastic opportunity to see how vibrant and diverse Beaumont’s museums and attractions truly are,” said Freddie Willard, executive director for the Beaumont CVB. “From fascinating history to engaging art and unique Halloween-themed fun, there is something for everyone to discover.”

Many activities are free; some special events may have a nominal fee. Look for the digital pass at beaumontcvb.com/museum-madness.

Mark your calendar for two amazing events at the Tyrrell Park Nature and Visitor Center. Make your reservations to solve an owl mystery with owl pellet dissections on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Learn all about bats, enjoy crafts and activities on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Enjoy an unforgettable outdoor concert in the garden at the McFaddin-Ward House Museum on Friday, Oct. 17, with Music at the McFaddins’ featuring Jimmy Simmons & Friends at 6:30 p.m.

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas will host this thrilling and educational event on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for “Eat-A-Bug” Free Family Arts Day. The day will be complete with art activities, sugar skull decorating, and, yes, delicious bug samples from The Bugsperts.

Head to the historic John Jay French Museum on Saturday, Oct. 18, for Pumpkin Walk and Fall Festival from 6-9 p.m. There will be a haunted tour of the 1845 home, a haunted hayride, a pumpkin decorating contest, and a vendor fair. Admission is $5 for non-members (ages 4 and up).

Prepare for an interactive, high-energy science show where children (and adults) will be enthralled by incredible demonstrations that prove science is fun all at the Beaumont Children’s Museum for Doktor Kaboom on Saturday, Oct. 18, with shows at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m.

Spindletop Boomtown Museum, Fire Museum of Texas, Edison Museum, Energy Museum, and others are also expected to feature special events, exhibits, or free admission throughout the weekend event.
