Sat., Aug. 10, 10 a.m. • Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Beaumont • Free
Visit AMSET in downtown Beaumont for a creative day of art activities, celebrating back to school, and recycling. With a theme of “Don’t Mess with Texas, Mess with Art,” children and their families are encouraged to explore the museum and create artwork with recycled materials. Art activities are also inspired by AMSET’s current exhibitions, “Mundos Pequeños: Miniatures from the John Gaston Fairey Collection of Mexican Folk Art and Dreams, Screams and Fantastical Things.” Art activities include Tin Can Planters, Exquisite Corpse (collaborative drawing), Perspective Art Gallery, Miniature Clay Creation, Cork Sculpture, African Mask (bring your own empty milk jug or detergent bottle), and Temporary Tattoos. Complimentary punch and cookies will be provided. A concession stand serving ballpark-style food will also be available.
