In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Samaritan Counseling Center is announcing new ways for the community to get involved, as well as new incentives to draw in prospective clients from all over Southeast Texas.
Additionally, Samaritan has opened an Amazon Wishlist for its 40th anniversary celebration that contains office supplies, books and children’s toys – donation opportunities for an array of budgets and beneficiaries.
Samaritan Counseling Center, a nonprofit organization that has been serving the community as a firm proponent of mental health positivity in the Southeast Texas region for the last 40 years, has operated in churches out of Beaumont, Silsbee and Orange to provide mental health screenings and counseling to citizens in these areas regardless of financial standing.
Through flexible payment options for clients, charity events like the “Not-So-Newlywed” game, and goodwill through the community, the nonprofit’s work has been able to expand into providing not only counseling, but internship opportunities, to expand the world of mental health by helping to train new counselors and grow the industry with an increased supply of trained counselors.
The counseling center is looking to members of the community to provide support to members of the administration, as well as to the clients served by donations of books and toys used in counseling sessions. Samaritan is also planning to offer scheduled tours of their facilities to give clients and their families a chance to see where services are provided before choosing whether or not they wish to apply.
With over half of the center’s clientele being under the age of 18, Community Engagement Coordinator Brooke Loupe added, “People can come in and learn about SCC, our mission, and see what a therapy space looks like because it can be very intimidating to call in or show up for an appointment.”
