Kids and families can learn all about fishing in the Big Thicket, including different kinds of knots, fishing limits, and even try fishing from the bank with a ranger Saturday, July 27, from 8-11 a.m. at City Park (1300 FM 421) in Lumberton. Kids who also compete all the activities can earn a Junior Angler badge. No fishing license required. For more information, call (409) 951-6700. If you want to try fishing at the beach, Sea Rim State Park (Sabine Pass), organizers are hosting a “Kids Fish” on Saturday, July 27, at 8 a.m., which is also free to kids ages 1-12. Children will receive a free fishing rod and T-shirt while supplies last. Volunteers will be on the beach to record size and number of fish caught for each kid as well as providing bait and fishing advice.
