Beaumont’s spectacular Fourth of July celebration

Event Services, known to many as Beaumont Events, hosts more than 500 events each year at six city-run venues and produces more than 70 city-sponsored events and festivals for the public. Fresh off the heels of a successful Juneteenth Celebration in downtown Beaumont, next up is the 38th annual Fourth of July Celebration on Thursday, July 4, from 5-9 p.m. at the Downtown Event Centre and Lake (700 Crockett St.).

This year’s event promises an unforgettable experience for attendees, featuring an incredible lineup of live entertainment, delicious food options from local food trucks, family fun, and a mesmerizing fireworks display. Admission is free.

“Behind every successful city event, including our Fourth of July Celebration, is a dedicated team of professionals from various city departments,” said Emily Wheeler, director of event services. “From public safety officials to public works, and many departments in between, everyone works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that our events are safe, enjoyable, and well-organized. Their hard work and coordination make these community gatherings possible and memorable for all residents.”

Headlining the entertainment is Zac Wilkerson, known for his heavy soul, country and folk influences. Powerful, soulful vocals and a driving guitar style combine with poignant songwriting to deliver a new take on Americana, soul, country, and rock. He won the Blue Light Live Singer Songwriter contest in 2011. The prize was a Solo Acoustic set at the 2012 Larry Joe Taylor’s Texas Music Festival in Stephenville. He has since etched out a strong following across the Texas the music scene and beyond, with his work appearing in nationally syndicated and regional radio.

Also on stage will be local talent including Curse & The Cure, which has become one of Southeast Texas’ most popular duos, along with the dynamic Flava Band, who never fail to get the crowd moving and grooving. To keep the energy up throughout the event, So Hype DJs will be spinning crowd favorites for all to enjoy.

For those that are hungry, bring an appetite. Food trucks scheduled to be on site are Old West Smoke Company, La Real Michoacana, Rudy’s Kabobs, KO Korean, La Potoyes, MB Mary Brazier, Sweet Basil, Taco Mex Fire, Gemmas Hoogies, Kona Ice, Gelu Italian Ice, Stuart’s Lemonade and Laura and Abe’s Ice Cream

The highlight of the evening will conclude at 9 p.m. with the largest fireworks display in Southeast Texas. This spectacular show promises to captivate attendees with a dazzling display of lights and colors.

“The Fourth of July Celebration is a wonderful community event where people from across the region come together in a spirt of patriotism,” added Wheeler. “With a spectacular fireworks display, live music and local food vendors, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Wheeler also acknowledged the City of Beaumont extends its gratitude to its signature sponsor Del Papa Distributing, along with Giglio Distributing for their generous support as the event’s partner sponsor and appreciates their continued commitment to the community.

In addition to the festivities on the grounds of the Downtown Event Centre, a special patriotic performance by the Symphony of Southeast Texas will take place at the Julie Rogers Theatre (765 Pearl St.) at 8 p.m. with free entry.

Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are permitted, but will be subject to search. No outside alcohol may be brought into the event. Early arrival is strongly encouraged.

“Our City’s Fourth of July celebration is a huge success because it brings our entire community together,” said Mayor Roy West. “It’s a time when our friends and our families come together to celebrate our nation’s independence. This event is important to our city because it fosters a sense of belonging and togetherness that makes our city such a special place to live and raise a family.”
