CommunityBank of Texas offerring drive-thru service

CommunityBank of Texas will deliver on site banking services through their drive-in facilities and restrict access to banking center lobbies. The following banking center lobbies in Southeast Texas will remain open: downtown Beaumont (490 Park St) and 4749 Twin City Highway in Port Arthur.

BBVA branches switch to drive-thru service

BBVA will transition to drive-thru service banking only beginning Friday, March 20, at 9 a.m. Banking center lobbies will be closed to all walk-in traffic, except for scheduled appointments. Certain branches without a drive-thru will be open on a limited basis.

UIL extends suspension of activities through May 4

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is extending its suspension of all UIL sanctioned activities due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Texas. All contests, practices, rehearsals and workouts will remain suspended until further notice.

State parks limit programs

After careful evaluation of the ongoing public health situation, Texas State Parks will be limiting park programming and closing public access to park headquarters, visitor centers and park stores starting at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 19.

Jefferson County amends emergency order

At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick issued a third amended emergency order concerning COVID-19.  The new order further restricts gatherings to no more than 10 people, including private gatherings; closes bars and nightclubs; and closes restaurants' dining areas.

The Beaumont Public Health Department confirmed the first Beaumont resident tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).                                                                                             This individual is currently quarantined.

The Legacy Community Health clinic in Beaumont has opened a coronavirus test collection station at its 11th Street location. Wednesday afternoon, masked nurses and attendants were outside the clinic at 450 N. 11th street, ready to test concerned residents.

Abbott allowing postponement of local elections until Nov. 3

Governor Greg Abbott today issued a proclamation suspending provisions of the Texas Election Code to allow political subdivisions to postpone their 2020 local elections.  This means local governments now have the ability to postpone their May 2, 2020 elections until November 3, 2020.
