Man with golden gun makes bond

After finding a kilo of cocaine on a speeding motorist Sept. 16, Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) officers – during a follow-up investigation – found another kilo of the illicit substance at a residence, along with $44,000 in cash, an accessory-rife rifle and one gold-plated handgun.
This case was investigated by the Beaumont Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell James.

Due to the continuing conditions caused by Tropical Storm Nicholas hovering over Southeast Texas, the City of Beaumont closed non-essential city offices Sept. 14 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Non-essential Beaumont services will not be available today, according to a news release.
