Local Texas First Bank has announced plans to open a new, full-service banking center in Beaumont in January 2022.
The location at 6363 Phelan Blvd., just east of Dowlen Road, will be the 27th banking center in the family-owned and operated Texas First Bank network.

HAZMAT cleanup update in Nederland

City of Nederland emergency response crews are still monitoring a transport trailer that leaked its contents resulting in a HAZMAT cleanup operation and an awful odor that affected a wide area in Southeast Texas, with residents from adjacent cities complaining that they too could smell the spill.

Jefferson County emergency Management Director Mike White told The Examiner that Southeast Texas' Beaumont-based Regional Infusion Center has been operating at full capacity over the last several days, upping their daily treatments from 15 to 60. To manage the influx of patients, White said the center will be open on Christmas and New Year's weekend, and the county requested more financial support from the state.
