Nederland High School is no longer on lockdown. Nederland ISD issued the following statement: "On the morning of January 19th, Nederland High School received a threat via phone call to the front office. The NHS school resource officer had communication with the caller.

The Beaumont Farmers Market has returned for the spring and is open every Saturday, from 8-11 a.m., rain or shine at the Beaumont Athletic Complex, between Langham and Dowlen, on the south side of College under the basketball court.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is offering one set of four free at-home COVID-19 tests to each residential address in the nation. There is a limit of one order per household, and interested residents may fill out applications at special.usps.com/testkits.

With the closing of the regular gun season on deer, some buds and I shifted gears and opted to go duck and pig hunting last weekend. As expected, the duck hunting didn’t work out too well. We made a hunt on a backwater slough off a creek and three of us got two teal and a spoonbill.
