The Diocese of Beaumont will host a 5K run on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 7-11 a.m. The event will affect streets throughout downtown Beaumont. The start/finish line will be at Archie and Forsythe. Please see attached map and plan your route accordingly.

The good times will once again roll in downtown Beaumont as Mardi Gras Southeast Texas officially returns to the Great Lawn of the downtown Event Centre on Feb. 24-27 featuring parades, concerts, food, attractions, arts and crafts, and, of course, plenty of beads.

Thank goodness this duck season is over. It was absolutely the worst that I can remember after over five decades of chasing these wonderful waterfowl. I don’t know what happened, it’s anybody’s guess. Its’s not that we have an acute shortage of ducks.

The Honorable James William Mehaffy Jr., Jefferson County 58th District Court Judge from 1994-2006, died Feb. 2, 2022. Born in Houston on Nov. 23, 2940, Judge Mehaffy, known to friends as Jim, was 81 years old.
