Rodeo roots date back to the 16th century when the Spanish conquistadors and Spanish-Mexican settlers introduced the propagation of horses and cattle in the Southwest. Skills of the range cowboy led to competitive contests that eventually resulted in standard events for rodeo.

BPD investigates two traffic fatalities

Following a pair of fatal car crashes that happened hours apart Wednesday, March 16, the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) announced an investigation into the incidents. Beaumont police responded to the first major crash in the 3500 block of North Major Drive at about 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, March 16.

Houston men charged with Beaumont mail theft

After allegedly traveling from Houston to steal mail from Beaumont residents, two men have been indicted for federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas, according to U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston.
