TxDot working on Hardin Co. highways

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has been busy with mostly seal coating projects on several highways in Hardin County. “Every year there is quite a significant list for our district,” according to Sarah Dupre, the Beaumont District Public Information Officer.

Alligator injured in vehicle collision

A 5-foot alligator injured in an automobile crash had to be “dispatched,” according to Orange Police Department Officer Matthew McDonald. The driver of the auto then took the alligator home, the officer further reported.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD Superintendent Stacey Brister has announced that Israel Castaneda would be taking over as the new Director of Bands for LCM, following the resignation of Jose Ochoa.

The Silsbee Public Library recently received a check from Performing Visual Arts Council (PVAC). Last month, Library Manager Pam Hartt was presented a $300 check from the PVAC President Gaye Lokey and Past President Carole Seabrook for supporting this year’s ArtFest.

Grand opening for ag barn extension

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 6 p.m. Monday, June 20, for the new agriculture barn extension at Lumberton High School, 107 South LHS Drive. There will also be a tour of the facility.
