Adam Ehlert of Lumberton graduated from Hood College this month. Ehlert earned as Master's Degree of Science in Computer Science. Hood College, an independent, liberal arts college, is located in Frederick, Maryland.

Global tycoon from Beaumont mangles multiple cars on Dowlen

Beaumont business tycoon Walter "Loddie" Naymola is being investigated in the cause of the accident that damaged multiple vehicles -- reportedly resulting in multiple injuries, but no deaths -- at the intersection of Dowlen and Gladys, multiple sources confirmed to The Examiner June 24.

Kelly hires football coach Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School didn’t have to look far for their next head football coach. It was announced June 17 by Principal Dr. Tyrus Doctor that Mike Long was returning to the school where he previously he was the head football coach from 2005-2010.

Two people injured in boating accident

Two people suffered injuries from a boating accident on the Neches River in northern Hardin County on June 14. According to Capt. Ryan Hall of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the accident happened before dark near the entrance to Johns Lake.

Silsbee fireworks show June 25

Between 2,000 to 3,000 people are expected to attend the annual Silsbee Fourth of July Celebration is Saturday, June 25, at Silsbee High School. The show will begin at dusk. According to Silsbee Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sonja Kelley, food and craft vendors will start selling at 4 p.m.

Lightning strikes tree, destroys home

Several area fire departments responded to a blaze that destroyed a Bevil Oaks home. Lightning from a storm that rolled through the area on June 16 struck a tree which resulted in a fire that destroyed a home in Bevil Oaks, reported Jefferson County ESD No. 1.
