At a meeting scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, the Beaumont City Council is set to offer an employment agreement to Kenneth Williams of Buda, securing the municipality’s next city manager.

National Farmers Market Week

National Farmers Market Week (NFMW) is Aug. 7 – 13, and the Beaumont Famers Market (BFM) is celebrating on two Saturdays – Aug. 6 and Aug. 13, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m., adding some fun extras and unique treats to commemorate the week.

Entergy fan donations marks 22 years

Entergy Texas Inc. marked 22 years of donating fans to help low-income customers in the community stay cool and save money this summer, donating 1,300 boxed fans to 36 cities and agencies across Southeast Texas, bringing the total number of fans donated to 25,800 since the program started in 2000.

The 21st Annual Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) A Salute to the Real American Heroes event honoring Southeast Texas first responders will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center, 701 Main St. in Beaumont.

Church holds first gathering since fire

The Central City Baptist Church held their first gathering since the fire at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 31. The event was in the parking lot at the corner of Franklin Street and Avenue E in Beaumont, across the street from the church.
